I'm not sure how finding "life" in an asteroid causes so much religious debate. I don't see why God/Allah/"The Mighty One"/Buddah/"Insert deity of choice here" would have stopped at creating just one planet with life on, then create a whole bunch of others completely devoide of the stuff.
It has been Man's conceit that makes "the church" believe we are alone in this universe, not any teaching from the deity.
I'm sorry, but I do not think I really understand what you mean with "...stopped creating --- then create stuff devoide..." etc... You mean that he'd created us and then suddenly (i.e recently) created that stuff that rained down? In that case my question to you is, why would you think the stuff in the rain was created recently? It can have possibly floated around for quite some time before landing in India.
Sorry, I really am tired ATM so maybe that is the reason I don't quite comprehend what you're saying, so I'd request you to repost your thoughts in a different way :) so if my words seemed weird to you, it is just a misunderstanding, not my plain stupidness :D
