mm i hear that. it reminds me of an idea i had about human evolution. it sometimes seems to me that the people in our generation who are really on top of things (in their heads, in the world) aren't even thinking about reproducing yet. they're still trying to figure out this weird humanity that our ancestors gradually built. the age at which it makes sense for a balanced person (or, more rightly, a couple of balanced persons) to reproduce is getting older and older. assuming a person waited longer to start having kids, they would have fewer children and perhaps raise them more attentively than today's seeming standard. that would slow population growth and increase the likeliness of kids maturing into more stable, competent people. i realize that this is incredibly far-fetched. the original conception was one of potential or nascency at very best. and no, i'm not a fascist. and yes, i have a fascistic side.
