The post that I made way back when said I’d be ranting about diary fics, and that one is in the works, but inspiration struck today, and thus I will be ranting about a different topic.

I’m sure this will infringe on some other people’s rants, but today I’m going to discuss Alternate Universe stories involving Lily and James.

What a lovely little rant. I laughed out loud in several places. I agree I'm really sick of the loser!Lily stories. Or when they give either Lily or James other "special" powers.

Have you posted that story you wrote? I would love to read it.

The special powers fics are atrocious. I started a paragraph about them, but it got too bitchy. Eh. Still annoying as hell, though.

I have one "Special Power" that I have been reading for a while. But that is all I can do and it is really bad. Again I just can't stop myself once I have started reading them. It's like a drug. You know it is bad, but you just can't help yourself.

I was following a Super!Harry fic, but that one got continually worse, until I couldn't get through the chapters anymore. I followed it for much longer than it deserved, so I know what you mean. "This is so bad... but I must read on!" It's a train wreck situation.

Thank you for the comment. :) And hey, I completely understand the sleepy not-thinking comment thing. (I do it quite frequently.) The community's had a few submissions, but nothing that Sarah and I could agree to allow. Ah well.

They're horrible peices of drivel when they keep repeatign the same silly thing over and over.

Its basically the same senario and they're trying to milk it for all its worth even if it not milkable..

Thing is I have all this stuff to write about but they're coming out in all areas and not sound organized at all...

All horrible, horrible plot devices. >.< I can't even open those stories, they're so god awful.

Not milkable. This phrase made me laugh. Oh, am I easily amused... But yes, it's the same damn story with small enough variations to make them irrelevant.

I encourage you to write a rant. It feels so good to let it out. This rant, as I'm sure you noticed, got a little off-tangent, but it's all good. People know what you mean to say.

That's a fantastic rant, I agree but could never quite put it into coherent language.
I once read a decent fic about Lily returning from the Magdelene Laundries which seemed atleast plausible but I agree, many AU's are simply riduculous; although I suppose that makes finding decent ones all the more satisfying.
I'll definatly be checking back!

Decent AUs are fantastic, though. ghostofbambi writes a fantastic one called Girl in the Looking Glass. There are also many stories that aren't labeled AU that should be.
