[ accidental voice ]

Mum.

[The voice is faint, as if far away from the recording device, but the urgency and tightly controlled panic is clear.]

Dad, they're coming. They know we've broken the wards-hurry!

[Fumbling, a rush of static. Voices, mostly indistinct, but there's a woman's and several other men, a series of harsh cracks signaling ( Read more... )

[He was already outside, tending to the gardens, but the loud crack and the yelling caused him to rip off his dragon-skin gloves and head immediately out to the forest, to the source of the noise. He's got dirt on his nose and the knees of his pants are dusty as well, but he looks thrilled - if a little bit confused when he sees her]

Ginny?

[He even manages a slight laugh. Look at that]

I have, a little. It's just harder here because there aren't enough magical plants. We have some Dittany and a few others like Wolfsbane, but that's about it.

And you haven't done such a great job either from the looks of it.

[The redhead finally sets down her rucksack and the communicator on top of it, stretching her neck, grimacing at the pull on her muscles. Then she shoots him a wry smile, brief, but it's there.]

Oddly enough, abandoning your home leaves you ridiculously little time to mend injuries.

[She can sort herself in a few seconds. But first, she takes a critical look at Neville, wand twirling in her fingers. The smile is gone, it doesn't feel right on her face right now. Gesturing, yes, get over here, wand poised.]

Let me see.

I'm alright. You should probably fix your injuries first [But he says it weakly, without conviction because he knows that there's absolutely no deterring Gin. So he steps into a better light and turns his face towards her]

You're right. We were hopeless at this without you.

[Ginny simply shakes her head at his words, taking gentle hold of his chin to hold him still as she gets to work. This is something she's familiar with. Healing. If the redhead didn't love Quidditch so much, she might consider working at St Mungo's, she's certainly got the oddly motherly talent for it (a strange contrast to her fiery nature, but when one is the daughter of Molly Weasley...).

After a few moment's quiet, she speaks, absently.]

Mum wanted to clean me up before we left. But I told her it’d be best to wait until we were somewhere safer. [Ginny actually smiles now, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes; the rebellion's changed them all and being chased out of the Burrow was just a little over the edge of too much.] There's no good mending a split lip if I was just going to bloody it again if we get caught running and need to fight.
