I know that picking on Johnny is in right now, and we are all supposed to be in love with Jeremy Abbott, but I have always gone against the grain so I want to say a few things.

No, Johnny did not have a fantastic meet. Yes, his program is not the most unique and intricate. But, it is not as bad as people are making it out to be. It's musical, it ( Read more... )

I second everything you said! What bugs me most is that the ones who are really running Johnny through the wringer call themselves his fans and that makes me go WTF! Constructive criticism is one thing, but some of the comments I've read on other boards are just downright catty and nasty! True fans are supportive, understanding and encouraging, not harping and nitpicking like they could do better! Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now, LOL!

Oh, I know what you mean! No, my absolute favourite is the "advice" on what he should do, coming from people who not only have no experience and real knowledge in skating, but feel they know better than Johnny and his coaches! Are they serious?! Yeah, it happens. People are incredibly fickle and often get swept away by the "next best thing". This too shall pass, lol.

I am not even surprised, this is textbook social psychology. It's just funny to see this play out in real life. ;)

No, you're right. In most of what you say.

I think picking on Johnny is always in for some people, though.

Of course if you compete for as long as some of these guys have, you'll be repeating yourself somewhat. It seems so obvious to me, and it's weird that many others can't see that.
And GOD do I agree with this. I don't know what's wrong with some people's brains.
And this whole putting Jeremy on top of the Olympic podium already is beyond ridiculous.

Yeah, Jeremy as the Olympic champion takes the cake! *shakes head* Poor Jeremy, I actually feel sorry for him. When they hype you up like that they always tear you down. And he doesn't deserve that, he seems like a nice guy.
