Dear Skate Gods...

I don't know what you guys are smoking, but I am asking--- no--- insisting that some sanity is restored to men's figure skating as soon as possible.  What has been happening on at the GP circuit this year defies logic and explanation.  The fact that none of the actual contenders have won a single event yet is highly disturbing to me. The fact that ( Read more... )

The really scary thing is that Evan and Brian really were both a complete mess... And Patrick was good. Perhaps not as brilliant as numbers show, but he deserved to win anyway.
And Johnny really is old and crazy, lol.
I just hope my dear boys can pull it together for the big competitions.
I'm actually loving Kozuka, so I have at least one new face among the old ones. LOL

Actually I don't agree that Evan was a complete mess. He skated a solid program both times, with 8 triples, energy, etc. That's not a mess.LOL (His costume was a mess, but that's another story)

The only difference is that his 3A, which the judges used to overlook in the past, got downgraded, and at SC he was hosed by the judges on PCS (they were way lower than in the past for comparable performances).

Patrick did not deserve to win SC, IMHO. Bradley was robbed. Patrick was the one who was a technical mess, and he got "Skating with Canadian passport" PCS. That's why I am outraged.

Now, at TEB, Joubert wasn't great, but not a mess either. Now in this case, he did not deserve to win and I am not disputing his placement. Kozuka, whom I also really like, was robbed on PCS. He outjumped Patrick, yet Patrick, once again won on his huge PCS. Once again, I'm outraged. LOL

But yeah, I agree that the boys need to pull it together. Kozuka, him I have no beef with. My hate is directed solely at Patrick Chan.

ok, by "complete mess" I mean relative mess, not absolute mess. lol. = not as good as should be. I mean, take either of these guys and they can swipe the ice, but still have great presence and charisma...
I have nothing against Chan, but perhaps it's because I'm so not into all this hype...

I'm so glad Joubert found his charisma!

Yeah, I can totally see how people who are lucky enough not to be exposed to the Canadian "Best. Skater. EVER!!!!!" and "Genius!!!!" hype about Chan might not see where all the hate is coming from. LOL

LOL Well, he's been bitching about his old age since he turned 16 and his crazy is infamous!

Mostly by crazy I mean "headcase", but he promised to work on that ;). I tease because I love. :D

After all the bad luck this season the Olympic one better turn out all awesome for the guys. And Dai will so be standing on the podium there *sniffs*

Though what do we know, maybe CoR and NHK will actually manage to save this year's GP from complete WTFery - fingers crossed :)

Yeah, I was crushed to hear about poor Dai. Why do bad things happen to good people?!

COR and NHK better rock, or this will be worst GP season ever!

I can't agree with you more about Patrick thing! He should be ripped out at least 10 points of PCS, plus some GOE!
I believe he'll get good results, maybe a world title or two, but, say, I DON'T CARE. He is total ordinary, including his so-called amazing skating skills.PCS makes me hate him, completely.

Thank you!
I know it's not his fault that he became the default "chosen one" at the Canadian Federation and they are investing like crazy in their Olympic Bid, but I can't help by resent him because it's NOT FAIR!

It's not fair to people who are do not have a federation behind them, or are not "favourites" of their federation. Patrick at SC was a total mess technically. People like Johnny, if they make mistakes like that, always, ALWAYS get a hit in PCS. I mean look at past Worlds: he was not as messy as Patrick, he just skated cautiously, and his PCS sure took a hit. Patrick's didn't. Now maybe I am blind, but I don't see in what universe Patrick should be getting higher PCS than Johnny. On the contrary, Patricks "artistry" is juniorish and "studied", while Johnny's comes across as more real. (I hope I am explaining it right). But no, he's getting Lambiel-level PCS, for some unexplained reason. That's ridicuous!
