It may seem to be just a musical instrument, albeit an odd one, but to Haruko it is a physical representation of  the two most important people in her life at the moment, little Naota and the Pirate King, Atomsk. It's a double bass guitar. To be specific, it's a fusion of Atomsk and His guitars.
