Rose, this is beautiful. I have always envied your ability to be so...minimalist, and yet tell so much. There is such a lot of feeling and love and--oh, everything! in this, and it makes me come over all nostalgic.
But, what I love most, is that even though this is about two completely non-Pippo relationships, he is still there. It wouldn't be you if he weren't. <3
Thanks for reading this my dear, I'm glad you liked it. As for the old man, he always was my imaginary muse, so I like to see if I can get him in, like Alfred Hitchcock but a bit thinner.xx
Read it and it's so lovely. Brings up so many feelings/memories of how Milan was in the past. What nostalgia. And with it comes the heartache and the shortness of breath. Nearly cried cause Ambro's the only one left after Pato's sold to Corinthians.
Thank you, that's a really nice comment. Ambrosini is going in the summer, I understand, so that will be it. I know they all have to get old and move on, but you are right, it seems very sad.
Is it confirmed that he's going this summer? There's still time to change his mind.
I don't know how you feel about this, but to me, I've always felt that Ambrosini is trying too hard to live up to Paolo's standards, so much so that he's kind of underwhelming. He's the kind who, when retired, noone will think much about as captain cause generally 'captain' equals to Paolo and/or Mr. Franco Baresi. Either way it's sad if he stays and sad if he moves on. (Such is the tragedy with the silent ones...)
That's what I've read, and I think that with this focus on youth, they won't try too hard to dissuade him.
It was never going to be possible for anyone to follow Paolo, but I really have grown to love Ambrosini. I'll never forget him wandering about with his little boy in his arms, crying as they all left. In his quiet way he's been a great player for Milan and I hope that they recognize that.
