I just realised that the dominant mode of characterisation for so much of your fic is yearning. You're always so good at unearthing desire and giving it a voice through your characters - for love, for sex, for home, for friendship, for change. I think this is one of the best things you've done in that respect, polarising Pippo and Gila and allowing Gila to yearn for all of the above, and yet be terrified of them, too. The first person is incredibly articulate in its simplicity.

The paragraph about Pippo's time at Juve made my heartstrings twinge.

Absolutely top stuff, Rose. Adore it. Thank you.

You are so perceptive, much more so than me because I never really thought about it, and then when you wrote it I saw it was true. I wanted to write about ambivalence and Gila/Pippo seemed right because of their respective situations and because Gila seems not to know what he wants and I wanted to try and express his different and contradictory feelings. I'm really glad it seemed to work,

I love Pippo at Juve, before he became so old and wise

thank you sweetie, for always understanding and making comments that are better than the fic

I think I might have been temporarily rendered speechless by the loveliness of this piece, so I shall simply point to what Nol said, nodding and agreeing.

This is lovely, dear. ♥

It was nice to write Gila without Toni, it's odd but in a way they are one of the most unbreakable pairs, although they don't seem to get written about much now. Thank you for reading it and liking it, my dear, you know how much store I put in your opinion, as you are an acknowledged expert on the Pippo genre.

The editors were wondering how to best arrange the stories to their best effect -- I can only hope that my placement has done yours justice: a stretch of quiet between youth.

I thought that it was placed just right, and I wanted to thank you for everything you and the other editors did in organising this, I really enjoyed writing for it, and I hope there will be other editions.

Absolutely fantastic. You do first person so well, I hope you know. It's tough; few can pull it off.

I was a bit worried that I had made Alberto sound a little too old but I thought it was worth the risk because I wanted him to feel so many different things. I like to write in the first person because it seems more immediate, but it does have its problems sometimes, and I'm really pleased that you thought it went okay here. I always appreciate your comments because they are always so positive and encouraging.

Oh - oh, dear. Your writing is absolutely beautiful. It has this way of really touching upon the emotions that the characters are feeling, and reproducing them perfectly within the reader. This took me to so many different places emotionally and I can't seem to get it out of my head. And your first person is just perfect.

I wanted to put so much into it, not just about Alberto's different feelings but how he and Filippo are at opposite ends of their careers, and what that means for their relationship. I'm so glad that it all came across, and that you enjoyed it, I really loved writing it.
