"I need to be alive to enjoy it though and even winning the fight isn't very pleasant against my kind" Methos refers to the Quickening which occurs to when an immortal takes another immortal's head and the power of the defeated goes into the other.
Methos' block to the left is late, death manages the first injury. Luckily the injury is just to Methos' sweater, though Methos will complain about having to get a new one later.

Methos finishes putting on the vest and making sure the sensors are placed on his sword. He gives it a few experimental swings to make sure they stay on.
"Why else would I put this on?" He replies with a grin as he salutes and drops into his ready position.
