Frequently Asked Questions
What fandoms are allowed?
Any fandoms are allowed - except those that the author or creator has asked not be used for such purposes: Archie comics, P. N. Elrod, Raymond Feist, Terry Goodkind, Laurell K. Hamilton, Robin Hobb (a.k.a. Megan Lindholm), George R.R. Martin, Anne McCaffrey, Dennis L. McKiernan, Robin McKinley, Irene Radford, Anne Rice, Nora Roberts (a.k.a. J.D. Robb)
Can I write some original stories?
Yes! Original stories are certainly allowed. Please be sure to note that your story is an original in the Disclaimer. If you would like to lock them up more securely in your journal, please leave a snippet (25-30 words) and appropriate link to your journal. It will then be up to you to let anyone from the community read it.
How about crossovers?
Yes! You most certainly write crossovers!
How about RPF/RPS (Real Person Fic)?
No, because the mods don't have enough experience with RPF/RPS to know the boundaries that need to be set up to keep it from being a liable issue.
How do I claim a prompt table and/or pairing?
You don't need to claim either for this community. If you like a prompt table, copy it to your journal and start writing at your leisure!
Do I have to write the same fandom/prompt for every prompt on the table?
No, you don't! You don't have to stick to any one fandom/pairing/character/story type for the prompt table you pick. If you'd prefer to write the same fandom/pairing/character/story type, that is completely up to you!
May I write any rating?
Yes, you may write any rating or genre you like. This is why we put EVERYTHING under an LJ cut! Some people may not like to read certain fandoms or pairings or ratings and we don't want to offend them. Please be courteous to your fellow 5_prompt writers.
Is there a word limit to the story I write?
Because it is almost impossible to write a story under 100 words, the limit is 100 to... 100,000 words. Feel free to test either of those limits, though. *grins*
How does this work if I'm writing a chaptered fic?
Feel free to use a prompt for each chapter. This does seem to go against "one prompt per story" ruling but it really doesn't. Each chapter is sort of a story in and of itself.
Can I give you ideas for prompts?
Yes! Email me at webqueenis30 at gmail dot com with 5 Prompt Idea in the Subject or PM me.
Do I have to post to the community?
You can decide to post your story directly to the community (under an LJ cut) or you can provide a link back to your personal journal (please don't send us to another site, though). Whatever you decide to do, we'd like to see you you used the prompts!
Help! I posted my story here but can't see it!
Did you follow the rules of posting? Was your story under an LJ cut? If not, it may have been deleted. Of course, if this happens, a mod will have sent you a direct message or an email.
Are you a member of the community? You might want to check that you were accepted.
If you feel you did everything correctly, please let us know the date that you posted so that we can further research the glitch.
