This was wonderful-- even better than the first, and I liked that one immensely.

I still feel that happy sort of feeling that comes with a full stomach, laced with the slightest flicker of dread that I won’t see as much food as this for a while.
This is such a perfect description of the kind of desperation a person with Harry's past would feel, right down to the inability to let go of the fear of there being no food in the future-- even when he knows that's ridiculous. Those survival habits, like a former soldier's hypervigilance, are nearly impossible to let go of.

Have you thought about posting these up at AO3 (Archive Of Our Own)? There isn't a lot of KKBB fic out there, and that is a great site for rare fandoms. I probably have a spare invite if you need one. :)

And I'm super-glad to hear I write that mindset in a believable way; I'm fortunate enough to have never been in such a situation myself, so I wasn't sure if I was getting it right. :)

I don't believe I've come across that site before... is it a LJ community, or a seperate website? I'd like to check it out first, I think, but I'm definitely interested in branching out. :)

It's an independent website for fiction, and it's what houses the stories for Yuletide (which is, by its nature, a small-fandom undertaking).

You can search for stories by fandom there, which makes it easier to find small fandoms (like KKBB) than at LJ. But the quality of writing is better than, say, fanfiction.net.
