Swings and roundabouts

I needed to explain; "You have to understand son, life is a mixed bag" I said quietly, "It's swings and roundabouts". He looked at me, confused for a moment, "Good" he replied, and ran off to play on the swings. Then the roundabouts. I got it, almost too late. -- (I didn't write this, but my friend is shy about posting:) )
