They say if you rescue an angel your life will be blessed in little, indescribable ways. Thirty minute sun showers once a week. Snow invariably on Christmas day, powder white. Ten extra smiles walking down the street. Soft heartbeats from the warm body of the lovely, broken dove curled under the covers so close. Fixing him is a holy purpose and highly undesirable all at once. He could easily fly away or settle down to shelter in comfort, the chance was equal and influence would be an irreparable sin.
“Sakito, do you love me?” He stirred, barely conscious, from heavy sleep. Waking him was almost too cruel, but perhaps a tiny bit of pain would be soothed for them both in knowing.
“Yes,” was all he managed to mumble before falling back into calming slumber. Rescue: complete. The rest is up to the sweet little bird, the angel in disguise.
