Through Black Spruce was the 2008 winner of the Giller award (Canada's top literary prize for those not in the know). I've only read a handful of the winners and nominees over the years, but Through Black Spruce easily tops my list as my favourite of those I've read ( Read more... )

Oh, cool! I enjoyed Three Day Road and your review is intriguing; I'll definitely pick this one up.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's a really good read. I'm going to be picking up Three Day Road myself after this since I only found out that Through Black Spruce was the sequel after I had finished it. It seemed like it wasn't super important they were read sequentially though.
