Last year I completed the 50books_poc challenge, but I reviewed only a fraction of the books I read. So this year I'm going to make an effort to keep up, in order not to become overwhelmed by how far behind I am.

I sold my old copy when I got this new one so I can't directly compare, but from I noticed there's not a huge difference. I think there's some new text, but I can't guarantee that I'm not misremembering. Some of the reviews on amazon.com led me to think it was going to be vastly different, but I didn't get that. I did really like the interviews with Fukasaku and Takami. It's up to you, really. I'm not sorry I bought the new edition, but I'm sort of a nut when it comes to owning books.

I haven't seen the movie. I've been thinking about it, but I was put off by the thought of the gore. (Even reading the novel is a bit much for me at times.) But if you liked it despite that, then that's a good reason for me to check it out.
