I think the summary of almost every review of this book is "too much regular Cinderella retelling, not enough lesbian Cinderella x Huntress x Cinderella reworking." Though I think most problems boil down to "first book, should improve with future books."

Personally, my favorite part of the book was the mythology and history surrounding the Huntresses, and I'd love for Ash to just write about them.

Yeah, everything you said. I think she had to get the Cinderella part out of her system, since that was the story that compelled her, but future books focusing on the Huntresses will probably be much more interesting!
