Oh, this book. I wish I could quote the entire thing at you; the language is gorgeous and perfect and there are so many bits of it floating in my head. This is the most wonderful thing I've read in ages. Okay, just a few quotes:

Yes! I saw your review and am really interested in reading that one, but my local bookstore didn't have a copy and I picked up one of Abu-Jaber's other books instead. Still! I look forward to the memoir; she writes food in particular so amazingly.
