If you'd be interested in more of Yasmin Alibhai-Brown's personal story, you might like her A Memoir of Love, Migration and Food, which is far less a recipe collection than the name suggests. I reviewed it here.

I also found it interesting to compare the Australian government's ethnic monitoring methodologies. The book also made me really scared of the foster/child care system!
