Tyson, Death by Black Hole; Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist vols. 9-10 (#10-12)

I'd heard people speak highly of Neil deGrasse Tyson's science writing previously, but it wasn't until his Daily Show appearance (and sequel) that I made reading something by him a priority. Death By Black Hole: and Other Cosmic Quandaries seemed like the best place to start.

I am madly in love with Neil deGrasse Tyson. His Colbert Report appearances have also been hilarious.

Also in the "brilliant, funny, and handsome astronomers of color on Colbert" category was Derrick Pitts's appearance on March 30 of this year.

Awesome--I saw Pitts but missed Tyson's appearance. Thanks!

I am also fond of the offhand statement that ultraviolet light (UV) is bad for you because "it's always best to avoid things that decompose the molecules of your flesh."

Tee! Okay, he's on my list, even though I'm normally ambivalent about physics and astronomy.

I hope you do not regret it!

I am sure I will not--I don't mind reading about physics and astronomy, they're just not at the top of my list of science topics to read about. His books do look really interesting.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson! One of the highlights of recent summers has been the NovaScienceNow series he hosts. *fangirls him madly*

FYI, if you have a TiVo, set it to search for "DeGrasse." He'll show up on C-Span's BookTV every so often. (An hour! Uninterrupted! SQUEE!)

Alas, no, it's a cable co. DVR, but I'll make a note of that!

Fullmetal Alchemist improves exponentially, so far, as it goes along. There's one volume that's an expanded flashback to the Ishbalan war that blows me away every time I read it.
