I completely agree with you - it's a beautiful but haunting tale that is quite depressing. I'd still recommend it - but with a warning attached so future readers know what to expect. When I read it earlier this year I hadn't known it was going to be such a depressing read, and was a little taken aback by that fact. Still definitely worth the read though :)
