24. The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova This book was a little hard to get into at first but the more I read, the better it got. The changes in point of view/time were a little confusing, but it worked. This was a long but very enjoyable book. I especially enjoyed the never-ending research being inter-woven with the plot. I may even search out other works by this same author for future reading.

Oh, if you're just getting to know McCarthy, I envy you. There are books of his I'd give my right arm to be able to experience again for the first time.

The next logical step for a newbie is probably All the Pretty Horses, which remains his most accessible novel. But really, you could pick a McCarthy off the shelf at random and you'll get a sterling read.

Cool! Thank you for the suggestion. I will have to check that one out. I wonder if it would be too odd to call his writing style savory?
