The spelling issues sound a bit like the problems I had last year with a kindle version of "The Wizard of Oz".
It seemed to have been badly translated back into English from a foreign language, possibly using a computer, and sometimes was grammatically incorrect in such a way to make it almost unreadable. Also, when a word had two different definitions, they seemed to substitute it with something that meant the wrong thing.
It went on about a "financial institution" by a river, and after a while I'd realised they meant a river bank.
At one point instead of saying the scarecrow felt "so gay" (in the old-fashioned sense of the word), it said he felt "so homosexual".
