Book 24: Undead and Uneasy

Undead and Uneasy, MaryJanice Davidson. 258p. Jove/Berkely Sensation/Penguin, 2007.

Reading time: May 26 -June 1. 3 hours, work breaks.

I've read the other 5 or 6 books in this series, and got fed up with them because for the last couple books, the characters were basically running around being their obstinant selves without solving anything except by accident.

The premise is that on the night of an unspectacular 30th birthday, Besty Taylor, ex-model and shoe-aholic, gets hit by an SUV and wakes up as a vampire. not just any vampire, but Queen of the vampires. Since Betsy is vapid, self-centered, and completely ignorant of the Ancient Traditions, hilarity ensues.

In this book, Betsy manages to solve the problem herself, for a change. She also seems to be getting the hang of her powers. The series has become interesting again, because there was actually a plot this time. I didn't spend the whole book waiting for something to happen.
