The Muppet Show Comic Book: On the Road, Roger Langridge (writer, artist) and Shelli Paroline (artist). 2010, Boom Kids Comics/Disney.
Reading Time: approx 3 hours, May 20.
This was a collected edition of individual comics, some I bought and read already. And I already declared that I was counting anything with an ISBN towards my 50.
Langridge did a wonderful job capturing the fun of the original Muppet Show. With the comic book format, certain things can't be done: special guests, random musical numbers. Things that can be done, however, include full-body shots of the standard muppets and 3-issue story arcs. A story that might take an entire hour to tell on the screen takes only 20 pages in print. Even without the voices we know and love, this is still the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational Muppet Show. Veternarian's Hospital, At the Dance, Pigs In Space --all the fan service one could hope for without a live cast.
The BoomKids imprint is being used to publish The Incredibles and Toy Story, along with the classic Disney funny books.
