The Space Between Us All - Acknowledgements

Eleven months ago, I started pulling together the notes for the "short story" that would eventually grow into the massive novel The Space Between Us All. Two items sparked the creation of this story: John Lennon's "Jesus statement" and its possible relevance to the social and political situation today, and a dimly remembered item from a Beatles ( Read more... )

My dear, you are more than welcome. Your stories really helped reignite my love for The Beatles in ways I couldn't have possibly imagined.

Good luck with your RL projects, and don't be a stranger to Beatleland!

Thanks, Hawkmoth! You'll still see me from time to time, even though I don't have any new Beatles stories in mind. "Reigniting love"-- not a bad thing to do, eh? Thanks, dear!

Ooh, thank you so much! I thought I hindered more than helped most of the time, but I appreciate your kind words very greatly.:)

From your very first draft of the shooting scene in Memphis, this story grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I marveled at the power of your narration to discombobulate me in each draft. The "you are there" narration gave me an adrenaline rush and a sick feeling no matter how many times I would remind myself "it's just a story. This didn't really happen."

I loved George's witty replies from his first efforts on the ventilator using pencil and paper. I couldn't imagine how you planned to end this story. The press conference was fantastic. What a great bookend -- the narration of the murder in Hamburg by George to put the reactions of the Beatles themselves in Memphis in perspective.

Thanks so much for letting me be part of the process. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. And it was great to work with someone who could hear both positive and negative comments with equal aplomb and make their editorial judgments with quiet confidence and good cheer.

Congratulations on this amazing achievement.

Wow. Thanks so much, PL. Your wonderful words mean a lot to me. When the RL writing starts getting me down, I'm going to come back here and reread to get a fresh boost!

It's funny, but it's nice creating a little pocket of alternative reality in the world. I would like to think that, in my retelling, the Beatles became better buddies, and the entire world became a little more understanding and tolerant. It's only wishes, but who wouldn't want to wish good things for people they love?

Anyway, thanks for your inspiring words. I'm going to go back to work with a bounce in my step! *hugs*

Oh, I think I'm going to cry.

This story seemed to latch onto my consciousness from the first chapter, and I couldn't wait for updates.

But the one thing that got me the most was how well you reflected the Beatles' characters in the dialog, and everything they did. You put words in their mouths that they definitely could've said.

GAH, I LOVED THIS NOVEL. Thanks so much for writing it.

Oh, Jasmine! What a lovely thing to say. You really touched me, there. *wipes a tear*

I just love these guys-- but I guess you could tell that! It's so fun to bring them to life in scenarios they never encountered, just to hear those droll Liverpudlian voices tear the situation to pieces. :D

Thanks for your enthusiasm. I know we'll be in touch. Take care.

I couldn't put it better.

Thanks for the story! I will miss your updates a lot...I sometimes had the expression that it really happened! Strange, indeed, but no wonder, because you are a very skilled writer! You really got into the boys characters and I could hear them talk...it seemed so real!

Yes! Thanks, Astrid. I worked hard to create that illusion. I wanted everyone to find the Beatles they loved in here, both their particular one and the band as a whole. I honestly think they were truly extraordinary people. It was a pleasure to spend so much time imagining about them.

Take care. See you around LJ!
