Oh man, I might have to get that. I know Youme from Brooklyn days & have been meaning to check out her children's book - didn't know she was doing comics.
Well, this is mainly an informational comic (the title is "No Ordinary Flu"), so the drama will be underplayed. They don't want people to panic, just be prepared. The harsh realities of a flu pandemic are only hinted at. (It will be distributed to middle school students -- so it's 'family friendly'.)
If you read a history of the 1918 pandemic, it's unbelievably horrible. Funeral homes were running out of caskets because so many people were dying so fast.
hooray for this issue of comics in edyoumeintransitJuly 12 2008, 20:32:48 UTC
four-eyes, your new orleans work was mentioned to me at random by a park slope food co-op register worker before I met you for this project. I would have loved to have come by MOCCA to see you at the table. I was on a project in Mississippi for two weeks which gave me two days in the Dirty (N.O.) -we were on the gulf coast drawing and painting with children-the name of that org is Making Art Everywhere. I got the T&W issue just before leaving town and I am SO honored to be in the fine company of all the other contributors! Thank you for designing it up.Dear Readers, If you get one, get three! you will want to share:)

I drew a comic about the dangers of an influenza pandemic (be ready!) that comes out in the next month or so.

I CAN'T WAIT TO READ YOUR PANDEMIC PIECE! As a huge fan of Crichton's ANDROMEDA STRAIN and King's THE STAND, I've long been interested in the topic
