Reasons why I love Mary Boas's Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences1. As an insecure 18-year-old who had yet to actually talk to a real, live female physics professor, the name "Mary" on the book was infinitely heartening

Boas is awesome. Though I wish her book had more pictures. It's a great reference book.

I like that book too! I love math though, I just couldn't do it all day every day.

I wonder if she went out of her way to make the cover of the book un-girlie, since it is pretty boring looking? (mine is just plain beige, can't remember the color/shininess of the lettering at the moment) If I were making a book I'd want a visually stimulating cover.
