What size paper are you using? You could photocopy/scan and print it onto other paper so you could try inks and acrylic, or you could always mixed it?
I tend to use acrylic for flat, large areas then throw in the ink in detail. It looks very cheerful minus the gun violence thar XD♥ though and I'm sure you'll do a lovely job when it's all done!

It's pretty large. It's on illustration board, so I haven't yet experimented with this type of surface.
