Poem-y fic for Ronon ficathon

Mar 19, 2007 17:48

Here's a poem, well, it's mostly like a fic. I just wrote it in free verse because it's easier for me to organize my thoughts that way.

Summary: Ronon's thoughts on his new leader.

Title: He wasn’t all that observant, but apparently he didn’t need to be

Author: 4466584 (me! - Mara)

Written for: Read Prompt (hugglewolf)

Prompt: I was originally thinking of a prompt from hugglewolf: (Ronon/John - with Ronon being protective of John) because I really like that idea, Love It and hope whoever got him/her chooses that one, but it sort of swayed away a little. heh heh. It mentions Ronon saving John, but it's really talking about John being protective of the team and Atlantis, etc. Oh, well. ( . . . I guess it's really just the opposite of her/his prompt . . . hmmm)

Characters/Pairing: Ronon's POV, John

Rating: G

Words: Sorry, only 409 words guys! But I figure since this isn't the official fic for anyone it would be okay. I'd hate for someone to have their one writer write a short drabble and that be it. :( But since this isn't really anyone's, and everyone going to get a longer one without this; I think it might be okay, I hope anyway!

He wasn’t all that observant, but apparently he didn’t need to be

He was a great leader, the best I’d ever had,
But he didn’t really notice the things I did.
He didn’t always seem to know when danger was afoot
And yet, he always got us out of trouble.

The first shot seemed to almost inevitably be at him,
Which seemed to be how he liked it,
Him protecting us.
Even when I’m the one tackling him to the ground.

I’d hear something he didn’t
To busy bickering with Mckay,
I’d see something he didn’t,
Him making sure Mckay didn’t fall

When I tackled him he was still in control
He’d flip over and start shooting the enemy
Almost as if he was waiting for me to tackle him
Sometimes I think he is.

Other times I’m not so sure.
When he gets hurt in the fall,
Or Mckay is grazed, or hit, by a projectile
I wonder, but never lose faith in him

He was at the rear
I didn’t remember us switching,
But there he was, and here I am
Filling in while he protects us yet again

My old leader, dead as he is now,
Always noticed everything
Every shift of the foot, every rustle of the leaves
Dead as he is now.

He got off Sateda with his “skills”
And yet he’s dead now, because of what he did.
That would never happen now.
Now everything’s flipped backwards, but that’s how it’s suppose to be

His skills are real skills
Knowing how to keep us a team
Knowing what everyone can do, personally
Determined to get everyone back

Skills to lead us,
We could escape anywhere, defeat any enemy
Even when I have to save him, he doesn’t hesitate for his pride
Doesn’t waste time trying to heal something that was never hurt

He would never desert me, or the team
He would never stop trying,
He would always give everything he could possibly give
Always all the right things, always for the cause

He’d blow himself up for Atlantis
He’s tried
He’d step in front of a bullet for me
He has

Maybe we can’t defeat the Wraith, even with him
But I think maybe we can still live a life
Diminish the sacrifices and live around them
Play games and learn a new way of life

So maybe John doesn’t notice everything
I really don’t think he has to
He’s above it.

fic, sga
