Even after all this time it is strange to me that Luceti has no economy. It is unthinkable in my country to have a country or city, or rather a commune as I believe we could be classified, without a system of economy. I suppose it would mean less colds, but-First, let me thank all of those who participated in my call for autographs in my last ( Read more... )

It's a little strange I suppose, but it's not really like we're all countries here. What would you even use? What would be the solid rate of conversion? How could you deem prices on goods that come in freely anyway?

What kind of dog do you have?

[Everything. You should watch T&B and see why moe oyajii is all the rage.]

What's an otaku? Is that a type of religion?

Well I guess you could just keep records of favors. Criminals do that sometimes rather than deal directly with money.

[wow, he is not a moe oyaji.... he is just oyaji. or jiji. or just old.]

For some. Yes. Their devotion can reach the levels of religious fervor. Especially in regards to idols. Or AKB.

[That's what they all say.]

Religions are so strict, eh.

Eh, it's just a suggestion. Of course they do it to avoid dealing with governments, which seems like it might work here.

There are rules, yes. But it depends on what sort of otaku you are. I, myself, prefer video games. [oops, dropping a spoon. He sighs and retrieves it before sticking it in the sink and getting a new one out.]

....And there is no government in Luceti, is there? I certainly see no one to hold negotiations with; and there is no nation to speak to, making it all the more difficult.

What are video games?

Aye, so that means something what works even without strict control would probably be more plausible in this place, eh.

Video games....Are the pinnacle of social interaction. Without having to interact with actual people you can immerse yourself in a world of 2D where you can do anything or be anyone. [Can you hear the awe and reverence in his voice????] The worlds and types of interaction are only limited by the imagination of the developers and the desires of the consumers.

[paradiiiiise

And sigh.]

If that is the case, then perhaps it is better as it is...

Right, another religious thing.

Yeah, the whole leaving money thing be is probably for the best.

[But since he doesn't want to leave the guy depressed...] So, have your got your video games here or whatever?

They are. Yes. It is one of the few things I get excited over.

That and sales.

But there are no sales here.

Alternately; everything is always a sale, but I guess that would make it lose the special quality, eh?

So how do the video games work again?

There is no sense of having received something at a bargain. It removes the joy of consumerism. [sob sob sob]

Video games work by using a disc with the game data on it and a gaming console capable of reading it - the images are displayed on a screen, either portable and handheld or a television and stationary. The console will save your data so you can continue to play where you last left off. Save points are very important.
