[He opens the journal and speaks quietly, hoping not to disturb anyone.]

...It's been a bit cold lately, hasn't it... I hope everyone is faring well with the weather being as it is.

In my country, three days of cold are followed by four days of warm until the fully warm days of spring arrive and bring with them the cherry blossoms. [...I...was ( Read more... )

it's an excuse to get drunk, poland this is your fault, electronics king, seasonal words, older than he looks, being japanese

[Robert recognizes that quiet, formal voice quite well. It's been quite awhile, though...]

Ah, Mr. Japan. I trust you have been keeping well?

... The trees must be spectacular viewing at this time. I hear that Prunus serrulata have some of the most pleasant blossoms... Perhaps I ought to go out myself.

[And more excitedly:] I also recently received my nanocomputer - perhaps at some point we could convene and I could demonstrate it for you?

Professor Hastings... Yes, thanks to everyone's kindness, I have been doing well. It is kind of you to ask. Have you been well?

[Formal formal formal.]

Ah, if you have never seen them, then I do suggest it. The sakura are very representational of my country. ...I may be venturing out with Baiken-san...if it is not too forward of me to extend an invitation...?

[omg omg omg!!! TECHNOLOGY!!!!]

...!! I-I would be most honored to see your nanocomputer! When would you be available?

I have been, actually; surprisingly so. The latest experiment was... somewhat awkward but not particularly problematic.

[Formal right back.]

I have never met Baiken before [- notice he didn't append the -san because he recognizes that it's an honorific now, but doesn't know which to use -] but I would not be adverse to this at all. Perhaps I could... bring someone myself? If he isn't too busy, perhaps I will ask my partner to come with us.

[Robert knows that Don speaks Japanese but he may not realize that the cultures intersect, yet...]

Oh, I'm not particularly invested in anything at the moment... Both yourself and Cameron have expressed interest in seeing my nanocomputer, and I was wondering if perhaps I ought to do some sort of lecture or similar demonstration on it...

I wonder if anybody else would be interested?

Of course. Hanami is meant to be done with friends and family. [Not that he knows what Robert is talking about specifically.]

....Many people here do seem interested in technology. Perhaps it would be a good idea to open your demonstration to the public so you needn't do it repeatedly?

Actually, come to think of it, Don - Donatello, that is - was very interested in meeting you, so I am certain he would wish to come along regardless. [Not that they won't go on their own as well.]

... I considered that, but Cameron expressed the desire to see it in person, so I might want to do so twice, then... Or perhaps ask the village at large who would be curious.

[That would require being very social though, and even with three months of socialization attempts behind him, Robert is still incredibly awkward at this.]

O-oh? [What what. Um, now he's a little nervous.] I am honored he would think that.

....please do what makes you more comfortable, Professor Hastings. I will attend either session you set up.

Nonsense, you are exactly the kind of person he would find fascinating. He is quite the engineer, and very technologically-inclined. [Robert beams at Japan, unaware of the country's nervousness.]

And I would be more than glad to have your presence... Somebody who can truly appreciate its utility and function is always heartening to have around.

..... [AAAAAAAAAAAH SOMEONE IS PRAISING HIM.] ....Y-your words humble me. I would be most honored to meet Donatello-san.

And please...keep me informed as to your demonstration date? I look forward to it.

[Get used to it, Japan. Robert praises people he likes rather freely.]

I will inform him of this immediately.

And yes, certainly so, Mr. Japan. [Robert resolves to make some kind of village-wide post eventually to see who might be interested, if he can get up the spine for it.]

T-thank you. [He bows and tries not to be awkward.]

[Being awkward is great!]

I suppose I shall speak to you soon... perhaps to make sure that Don and you can indeed meet.

[And that ends up getting sidetracked by the experiment. Or is it supposed to be handwaved?]

I will look forward to it, then.

[Sidetracked is fine? I don't mind either way. :) ]
