There's one episode of House told in flashbacks, and of course at one point past-House walks away from the camera past present-House, with the latter facing us, because that's the kind of silly thing this show does. Past-House is a good three inches taller than present-House.

Is it that they found a double 6'6", or does Hugh Laurie slouch that much to compensate for the heavy lean House developed after the surgery?

It's "House from six months ago," not "House from before the surgery," so they should both be the same height. And it really does look like the double was outrageously tall, not just ridiculously tall while Hugh was slouching. It was weird.
