Hawke. Dwarf. Your companion is among the living.

[That's... not Anders' voice. It's something else entirely.[Who knows how long Anders has been back. Long enough for Justice to regain his memories. And... take over. The spirit has no desire to be stuck in a nervous, memory-blank shell. So he's jumped into the driver's seat ( Read more... )

[...oh, good. Big blue and crazy is out.]

When wasn't he among the living?

[Also go away Justice. Let Anders back out.]

Can we expect to see him any time soon, then?

Recently. He was infected in the process of attempting to heal an interloper.

I assume you will.

[...nope, Varric's not touching that one. He remembers enough to know that Anders had insisted on coming to try and heal him, and Varric'd been worried he'd passed it on.

He doesn't want to ask for clarification.]

Right. Can I get a better estimate on that timeline? We really have to get started on that 'we came back from the dead' bonding. There's only so much time after the actual death experience that we have for that before it just turns into dwelling.

You wouldn't want him to dwell, would you?

He already does. More than you know, dwarf.

Your 'bonding' will have to wait.

And I'm sure you have nothing to do with that.

[You are no fun, Justice. Stop picking on Varric's mage buddy.]

How about letting Blondie out to tell me that?

Like it or not, dwarf, this was his choice. He has told you this before.

No. The mage is incapable of speech. Of action.

[And Varric refuses to believe Anders knew what he was really getting himself into.]

He won't be that way for long. Shoving him in a corner isn't going to help him at all.

Little more than a day has passed.

Then he should at least remember how to talk. Let him out, so he can be around friends.

Doing that takes time that can be better spent in dealing with the one responsible for this madness.

Taking care of Blondie's more important than that.

Your kind of justice doesn't work here, anyway. If you kill her, she'll just come back. And then she won't remember that she has this thing that needs to be contained, and more people will be infected.

It'll only cause more innocent people pain.

Then she must be contained! Restrained and then punished for the rest of her days within these walls.

[Varric doesn't really want argue with that. He's not exactly thrilled with her, either. But he will, because setting Justice on anyone never ends well.

And he wants Anders back, now that he actually remembers who Anders is.]

And how are you going to do that? Force her into a room and stand guard constantly? Who's going to give these punishments, decide what they are? What if she fights back? How will you stop her? You'll probably have to kill her, and then this will start all over again.

The staff here seem to be so fond of punishments. Let's see what they do about it.

I will not stand idly by and wait for this staff to carry out justice!

They have not yet acted! They will not! A murderer walks unpunished!
