BLU always liked the forest, the cold air was refreshing in his lungs, but the mist was making his bow draw loosely, affecting his aim. He frowned at it, kneeling down on the damp grass and bringing it over his lap to adjust the tension.
He tries to shake the feeling that he's being watched, but he still looks over his shoulder occasionally, trying to pinpoint the source of his unease.
The threat would actually appear from around one of the houses on the outskirts, a large dog that was easily eye-level with the BLU on his feet, stalking around the building and approaching him.
It didn't back down and instead suddenly rushed the Sniper, though its movement seemed to slow a little in the process...like something was giving him an extra moment to react.
In an instant Sniper fired, then just as quickly slung his bow over his shoulder and turned to run. As he ran his hand went for his knife at his side, afraid the dog would be on top of him before he could get it out of its holder.
Daring a glimpse over his shoulder the Sniper was surprised to see that he was somehow outrunning the thing. That didn't seem possible given how big it was and that it ran on four legs instead of two. But he couldn't count on that luck to hold out, he needed to distract it or get away from it.
Spotting a tree that seemed just about the right height the BLU grabbed ahold of one of the lower branches and started scrambling up it as fast as he possibly could. Sure the dog could camp down there and wait for him to come down, but he was willing to bet he had more patience than the dog did.
"Ya can't stay down there forever. Git!" Trying to be menacing while clinging to the trunk of a tree was not working so well for the Sniper. His eyes turned to the town in the distance wondering if he could yell for help, or at least for someone to come get their dog.
The dog only grinned up at him before settling again. It only didn't try jumping up at him because the branches were too close together for a dog bigger than a horse to not hit.
It just so happened that he got lucky. A long howl came from somewhere in the little village and soon after the big dog stood and looked up as a flash of brown darted out of it and into the forest The dog snarled and took off after whatever it was and gave him no more thought.
He wouldn't see either, but the barking was getting steadily fainter. Soon it could barely be heard, but another dog soon trotted into sight...one Sniper should know since he'd been her for a week.
He tries to shake the feeling that he's being watched, but he still looks over his shoulder occasionally, trying to pinpoint the source of his unease.
