Only *YOU* can prevent scurvy

I'm teaching myself a few cocktails beyond the un-screw-up-able Black Russian, that also avoid ingredients that are going to cause a lot of waste, i.e., bottles of tonic water, exotic fruit juices that I don't drink otherwise.  From this, I discovered that even if I end up with cirrhosis, I will not have scurvy.  These are my current favorites:

If you like Gin, you should try making a "Ramos Fiz". Its one of my favorite brunch drinks.

Don't chicken out - it really is fabulous. the pragne flower water is in a small bottle & is cheap. You can get it at BevMo, or any larger liquor store.

here's a link to a recipe: http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/ramos-gin-fizz.html

Thank you, I just printed it out for later. :)

From the ingredients,it sound like something between a creamsicle and an Orange Julius. Yes?

I like a good Winston Churchill myself.

1 part gin in a chilled martini glass
Look at a bottle of vermouth from across the room.
Serve.

Ya, I remember when you made me one a couple years ago: half a high-ball glass of straight gin. I also seem to recall that I was drinking it because you didn't like it. *raises eyebrow*

You know what would go great with any cocktail though? Pig heads!

Whiskeys are really different. Bourbon is entirely different from Scotch and both from Rye, even though all are "whiskey".

It's almost stereotypical, in fact, for bourbon drinkers to dislike Scotch and vice versa.

When I think "furniture polish" the taste that comes to mind is hideous artificial lemon, but it seems like that's not what you mean. Do you mean medicinal? Woody? Piney?

I like Laphroig, which is a peaty, smokey, medicinal Scotch, so I may not be the person to recommend to you in that case, lol.

Something like that. It's been a month or so since I tried Bushmill's and Canadian Mist and my recollections are fading. I thought Bushmill's was a bit harsh-tasting, particularly with that woody taste. Canadian Mist was smoother all around, lots of different scents that would appeal to lumberjacks, and it seemed like something that one could like very much. Except I didn't, much. I suspect I'm doing it wrong. :(
