Heaven in a Tent

Written for Catelynstark during the Halloween trick or treat games in 2012. Since then, I've added a little over a hundred words in order to make it long enough for EF/FF and also polished it a bit.

Setting: Post-Chosen
Rating: PG
Word count: 745
Disclaimer: The characters are sadly not mine. I just play with them.

Sugary sweet, but sometimes that's what you need to read (or write!) :D

I've been having conversations here and there about fic and sex scenes, etc, and I LOVE a well-written fade-to-black, the suggestion of lovemaking that allows me, as a reader, to fill in the blanks. (And it fits the mood here - this is about making love, not sex per se.)

I'm guessing you've written the wilder stuff (this is your first solo fic I've read) but brava in any case.

"It's all right, kitten. I wasn't in heaven."
In less than a year I've read a fair number of post-chosen fics, but surprisingly few that take on that question, and it seems odd because I have a hard time believing she wouldn't think of that.

I really enjoy the way you've written the characters here - you're not using speech patterns/vocal mannerisms/behavioral tics as crutches, so I'm not being distracted from the story itself.

“No, Drusilla. But Harm was there, too. The three of us had lunch.”Ok, that fic HAS to be written! I haven't watched AtS so I didn't know - did Dru and Harm have lunch on the show? (The mind boggles.) still, Buffy sitting down to ( ... )

I absolutely agree, there are some fics where a sex scene is appropriate and others where it's just better to fade to black or describe it in the lightest way possible to allow the reader to fill in the blanks. If the sex scene itself isn't contributing and it isn't a porn without plot story, then it's better to leave it out imo.

I've written lots of wilder stuff so I'm not afraid to get very graphic - or kinky for that matter - but none of it is posted yet unfortunately (finishing stuff is hard).

I, too, have noticed a distinct lack of fics adressing whether Spike was in Heaven or Hell (or somewhere else) in between. Most seem to go with the no-time-passed-for-him, which is perfectly fine, but the question needs to be asked and it hardly ever is. It would be a very big deal to Buffy, I'd imagine! Especially in a situation like this where she is essentially responsible for bringing him back ( ... )

(Answer: Harm ordered a salad and picked at it for the entire meal, Dru ordered something expensive and fancy, ate a few bits and then proceeded to play with her food for the remainder. Buffy was trying to keep the waiter away as much as possible, as well as running interference between the two vamps and did not enjoy her meal.) Perhaps some day... after I finish the 87583568 outlines and WIPs I have sitting around ;)

Maybe I will some day though. I just love the idea of Spike's three lovers sitting down to have a meal and forcing themselves to play nice ♥

This scenario is just made of so much win!

I don't think that any story containing an aside about Buffy/Dru/Harm having lunch could ever be too treacly! Stop apologizing! *looks stern*

But really, this is delightful and touches on some important stuff: heaven, exes, love, Buffy nearly unrecognizable to him in her happiness. Lovely job.

*hangs head* Pure schmoop just doesn't seem to be most people's thing (have you ever seen a schmoopy awards, for example?) so I felt it was necessary to be upfront and warn about it. *shuffles feet*

Thank you so much! ♥
