If you keep a screw-top jug of kitty litter under your cot, do NOT use TidyCat. It clumps, sets up like concrete, and you have all the dry stuff at the bottom of the jug. Go with FreshStep, or a canister of plain clay litter.

Or don't use any at all - it messes up the porta-john equipment and they've asked us to spread the word. Clogged cleaning lines are a bad thing.

Personally, I find that just putting a lid on the thing until you can dump & rinse it works just fine.

Screw-top jug o' litter gets sealed and goes into the dumpster at end of Pennsic. For slap-on-a-lid and lug to port-a-potty, I use a coffee can.

The bigger sizes of Gatorade bottles work great as tent urinals too...

When are they closing Sideling Hill? I knew it was in the works but didn't have a date, and didn't have time to stop en route home. But if it'll be open through mid-September I should have one last chance.

I ditched the Turnpike at Somerset. US-219 to Berlin, then PA-160 over Allegheny Mountain. That turns into MD-47. Left at the T intersection to go east on MD-36, left at the light onto east US-40-Alt, and into Cumberland where I picked up I-68.

I just did US219 all the way to I-68.

I basically did that last year; it seemed like a lot of cutting back to the west. I liked 160 better, though I'd be leery of going *to* Pennsic that way. Allegheny Mountain is surprisingly mellow there, but there's a major downhill grade near the MD/PA line that's something like 9% for over 5 miles. Great for going south (downhill), but I'd rather make the (northbound) upward climb on a wider road (e.g. I-68).
