Yep, got it about the dependency thing. The majority of the support systems in the SCA are there to keep fighters on the field. A newbie to the SCA who doesn't fight has it really hard compared to a newbie who wants to pick up sword and board. Loaner fighter gear MUST meet certain standards. Loaner garb? Ugh.
