Let's see... last time I posted, it was Thanksgiving break. Bunch o stuff since then. Semester's over, work winding down, gots projects for that last week in December -- like scheduling 2008.  As usual, cuts to spare your browser.

OK, shooter man. Is there anywhere nearish to Bowie that I can go to shoot that I don't have to be a member to get on the range... or know someone who is? I'd let to get my eye back and want to teach the goslings range safety and while they sort of know which end to point downrange I'd like to get them at least scaring the target.

I think most of the Maryland ones are membership-or-exorbitant-day-fee. Stefan Haraldsson and Countess Alyson belong to an outdoor one out east of you - I'll have to ping them and find out where it is. NRA in Fairfax is $12/hour member, $13/hour non-member, for the first person on a lane. $8/hour for people sharing the same lane.

Looks like Maryland Small Arms Range is the closest to you with reasonable rates. I don't know if there's any public / non-club trap-n-skeet facilities out your way. Near me, is Bull Run Shooting Center. They have a $25, one-hour, learn-to-shoot class. I took it last January because I figured it was about time I learned to use a shotgun for something other than slugs on silhouettes. This was the birth of my wobble-trap addiction.

Don't know if you've got any boom-sticks hanging around the house, but I have lots of toys, and share well with others.

I have a couple .22 rifles, a Winchester 30-30 and a Mossberg 12 gauge pump. I'd like to teach the goslings pistol - both revolver and semi-auto.

I also have a air rifle and air pistol, .17 pellets, but those have the range and accuracy of a baseball thrown by a 6 year old - maybe.

The MSAR doesn't do long guns from what I read, but does rent pistols ($5 + ammo + the range fee). I'll look into them, possibly for a Friday parent and child (Yeah, she's 25... and your point... she's my daughter.) night.
