Steven Barnes, on his Facebook page, has been having a number of discussions on gun control. Author Peter Huston commented the following;

"To me one of the fascinating things about watching these arguments is to see how emotional some people can get about the underlying issue of "is the world safe?" --I can understand why people who have been hurt

Basically, I never saw the world as a safe place, but found that good people acting in groups to support positive behavior were more likely to produce relative safety than I or someone else using violence or threats to protect themselves-- which seemed always to end up with me getting hurt.
