These evocative scenes bring out the humanity in the young man, a wonderful gift for all of us! I love that he named his first command the Holly!

What else could you call a Christmas ship? :) Thanks!

*claps hands* Oh, that's lovely! I particularly like:It was pleasant too to sit in a warm room and eat fresh food, surrounded by family, and not to have to think about navigation or discipline amongst the men.

and also There was society of a sort -- the jovial hospitality of Governor Swann in his new house, with plates piled high with fruit and roast pork. Carol-singing was strange in a hot climate, but they did it anyway, with gusto. Little Elizabeth Swann joined in, her voice piping high over the gruff tones of the men and the soft altos of the women. Over the years that followed the carol-singing and Christmas lunch at the Swanns' became a tradition, and over the years James watched and listened as Elizabeth's figure grew in beauty and her voice mellowed.

Very rich and descriptive. I like!

Awww. This is a lovely look at James growing up; I too adore that he named his first ship the Holly, most appropriate for a Christmas gift. I can just see him in church in his uniform with all the girls whispering and giggling over him, and then later at the Swanns', watching Elizabeth in turn.

Thank you so much! {{hugs}} A perfect holiday gift.

I'm so glad you liked it! I'm sorry it wasn't longer, the muse took a while to cooperate for some reason.

*g* No need to apologize! This is after all a drabble/ficlet exchange, so anything over 100 words is really gravy!

Aww this is quite bittersweet considering canon (not that I really accept death in that universe). Lovely!

Well, the third film was a bit of a mess ... we can imagine that in a nice AU he did get to play toy ships with a son! Thanks!

That was really well done. Love seeing his various Christmases, starting from when he was a boy.
