Oh, mystery author, this is just gorgeous. Your hobbit children are so sweet! (remind me of mine, only better behaved...) I chortled at the idea of crawling!Ranger Eldarion - yes, there's a child who wouldn't want to sit still.

And as for this,

“Presents and food and family are your Yule traditions,” he said, adding a wooden brick to Hamfast's growing pyramid, “but going out into the Wild is a tradition of the Dúnedain."

- I melted. Aragorn building brick towers! And carrying Hamfast on his shoulders. Little children do look up to exciting semi-strangers in exactly that way - how much more exciting if they were four times your height!

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful, heartwarming, sweet story. I'll be reading that again a few more times before the season's over :-)
