infanticide . . . .

yesterday, i happened to have the volume up when the news was on.  the news station aired an interview with a man who had killed his two very young children.  he was blaming the mother of the children and didn't seem to be particularly remorseful.  i'm troubled by this trend of infanticide that seems to be popping up more and more in the news.  a ( Read more... )

i see your point. i do recall, however, reading articles even 10 years ago about young girls giving birth then abandoning their newborns to a trash can or bathroom floors. i guess i can't fathom this detachment from the feelings that occur naturally in relationship to newborns and children.

Unfortunately things like that have happened throughout history. Baby girls, in particular, were (and still are, in some places) killed or abandoned because in those societies girls are just a burden. In the cases you mention, teenagers, probably with a whole slew of emotional problems, are in severe denial that they have any type of responsibility towards the person that just came out of them.

Yes, it's impossible to understand, and especially as a mother to two young children I can't even wrap my head around it.

true, however there's been a progression away from these incidents over time and now it seems as though there's a progression towards acceptance and increased occurence of said incidents. i'm referring to those societies for which this isn't an acceptable practice for the status quo.
