For: everyone

Title: My World is You
Genre: romance
Rating: G
Length: 3,240 words
Summary: Kyungsoo and Jongin celebrate their anniversary.
Notes: I wanted to help raise the number of fics submitted so this happened. The prompt was SafetySuit’s Never Stop (Wedding Version). The title though comes from The Paper Kites’ Bloom. Again, happy 3daysofkaisoo everyone and infinite thanks to the mods! :)

Jongin didn’t expect Kyungsoo to be home earlier than him. He stares at the note taped at the door of their shoe closet. He just arrived home from work, suit and tie still in order if a little bit askew. Aside from his suitcase, he’s holding a heavy paper bag that he sets down to peel the note off the door. He calls out to Kyungsoo but no answer comes his way. A smile tugs at his lips, nevertheless. Really, his lover is as surprising as ever. The note reads:

Happy 5th anniversary, Jongin! Let’s play a treasure hunt game. No, our friends are not here. No, I’m not going to make you walk to some place. No, I’m not leaving letters with embarrassing confessions. I’m not going to do what you did back in college.

Here’s what you’re going to do. I need you to find 3 things for me. A CD, a bottle of wine, and flowers. You can only go inside our room once you have all three. If you come without one, you’re sleeping on the couch for a week. Of course, I’ll leave you clues.

A sating warmth.
White is a memory.
Endless devotion.

Good luck! Try to hurry up.

Laughter escapes Jongin and he can feel his cheeks hurting from his wide grin. Of course Kyungsoo will poke fun at his event for Kyungsoo’s birthday when they were in college. He himself thinks it was pretty unique and fun. But at that time, he couldn’t quite enjoy it from the nervousness. He never once thought Kyungsoo might prepare a treasure hunt too. Never. To say he’s pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. He makes quick work of removing his shoes and placing his things on the living room table along with the note. Time to do some hunting.

A sating warmth.

It could be the heater system but it’s just a control box on the wall. Kyungsoo wouldn’t be able to hide anything there unless the other cracked up a hole and covered it. The idea is unlikely. There would be expenses to fix it up. Warmth? Maybe the blankets tucked away in the closet. They had all the bed sheets, curtains, and other fabrics except for their clothes in the guest room. It’s an acceptable idea, Jongin nods to himself. He walks to the room and immediately opens the closet. As much as he would like to just rummage mindlessly, heaven spare him if he ever made a mess of Kyungsoo’s hard work. So as meticulously as he can, Jongin takes out each item and inspects it. In the end, even looking at every corner of the closet is futile.

Warmth, Jongin repeats in his mind. What else is warm? Not to mention, sating. He goes through idea after idea as he places everything back in order. Jackets? But they’re inside the master’s bedroom. The warm water of the shower? Definitely not. Coffee? But their coffee pot is too small to hide any of the three items. Then it hits him. This time, he runs. To the kitchen he goes, stopping in front of the oven. A sating warmth. Got you Soo, Jongin thinks smugly. He opens it and smiles when he’s greeted with the bottle of wine lying innocently inside. He takes it and closes the oven. One down.

White is a memory.

White? There are many white things in their apartment. Even the walls are a blinding shade of white. Jongin doesn’t think Kyungsoo would put the CD or the flowers inside the refrigerator. And the clue wouldn’t make sense. Refrigerator and memory? Unless Kyungsoo would talk about the memory of his very delicious food. While doubting the idea, Jongin checks anyway. He isn’t disappointed to see neither of the two items in there. The same logic goes for the washing machine he checks. No. He shouldn’t be thinking of white as the main clue.

Memory. Jongin goes to the shelf where they place all their photo albums. This must be it. The CD is probably in between one of the pages. One album after another, they stack up in a pile beside him with the bottle of wine at the other side. Once the shelf is empty, there’s still no CD. He sighs as he places them back. If they’re talking about memories, it should be photos. His head tilts to the side as he regards the organized shelf. When he realizes his mistake, he’s severely tempted to smack his forehead on it. Of course! Why was he so stupid? He goes to the large framed photo of their wedding beside the television.

Before looking behind it, he stares at their smiling faces. They were wearing white suits and Kyungsoo looks beautiful. Jongin remembers his heart beating wildly as he gazed at Kyungsoo on their wedding day, thinking there was no other person more beautiful than his husband. He couldn’t get enough of the smile and those watery eyes that looked back at him. Funnily enough to their friends, it had been him who shed very manly tears that day. What their friends didn’t know was that Kyungsoo also cried those sweet, happy tears when he took Kyungsoo on their wedding night, slowly making love.

Venereal activities aside, their wedding day had been wonderful. Beyond words even. Or in the wise words of Mary Poppins, a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day. The small ceremony was held in a tucked away garden filled with their family and closest friends. His sister’s daughter was the flower girl and Kyungsoo’s nephew was the ring bearer. The two children had been showered with much attention at how adorable they looked. Their parents never looked prouder at them than at that moment. And he’ll always be thankful for the support and encouragement they continue to give.

At first, they didn’t think the ceremony could finish without one or more of their friends causing some sort of trouble or disturbance. But they were mistaken. It went by so smoothly that they kind of missed the rowdiness for a second. Only for a second. The feeling quickly dissipated when the reception rolled around and their friends made it a mission to embarrass them with countless stories to entertain everyone. Kyungsoo almost chucked wine glasses at Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and Jongdae. Luckily, Jongin prevented that mess from happening.

Despite all the delightful and embarrassing things that happened, his most favorite will always be Kyungsoo. Actually, no matter what the day is, his favorite will always be Kyungsoo. Nothing and no one could ever best Kyungsoo in his heart and life. That captivating smile seemingly saying ‘I love you’ will always be the best gift he could receive. Busy days. Weary days. Sleepless days. All those bad days break down at the sight of that smile. Even if they fight, he always does his best to bring out that smile before they sleep. Just a small one is enough to satisfy him.

He finally moves after a few more seconds of staring at the photo. Carefully lifting the frame, he sees a small bouquet of white daisies. 5 stalks wrapped in blue ribbon. It’s simple. It’s pretty. He knows Kyungsoo had most probably searched the internet for ideas regarding the celebration today. He did it too. He found out daisies are the flowers for the 5th wedding anniversary. He takes the bouquet, putting back the frame in its proper place. He places the flowers on the table beside his paper bag as well as the bottle of wine. Two down.

Endless devotion.

This is the hardest. What signifies endless? What signifies devotion? The first thing that comes to his mind are their rings. He plays with his own at the thought. But it couldn’t be the rings. Neither would it be the small box that used to hold them. It’s in their room. Not that a CD would fit in there anyway. Nothing had been in the albums. Nothing stands out as endless devotion in the kitchen. And he really doesn’t think Kyungsoo would put it in the bathroom. The guest room is pretty bare save for the closet and the bed. It should be in the living room.

Looking around, he tries to decipher what could stand out as the meaning behind the clue. His eyes fall onto the bookshelf where it’s gotten pretty cramped up from all the books he’s been given by the authors he handles. Book editing does have its perks despite the sleepless nights and coffee-filled veins. He should get another bookshelf soon or this one will fall into shambles from the weight. This one will be for the books from the authors. The new one will be for his own collection. His favorites. He smiles. He thinks of how sneaky his lover is.

Devotion. The Devotion of Suspect X, one of his favorites. It had been a gift from Kyungsoo who knew of his penchant for reading underneath his passion for dancing. Since then, he’s developed a fondness for mystery novels and Higashino Keigo’s works. His husband is also the reason he realized he rather liked work involving books and novels. Everyone except for Kyungsoo had been surprised he chose to take Korean Language and Literature instead of going to a performing arts school. They hadn’t thought his hobby of reading would grow into more than that.

He takes the book in his hands and flips through each page until he finds it at the 113th page. He lets out a soft laugh, heart filled with adoration. Kyungsoo doesn’t seem like it but he can get as sentimental as Jongin does. He eyes the CD, wondering what it must contain. Could it be a video? Or music? Could it actually be blank and they’ll fill it later? No, not of them having sex. But Jongin isn’t averse to that at all, truthfully. He rather likes the idea. He’s just sure it isn’t what Kyungsoo had in mind. The last time Kyungsoo indulged him with that, he had managed to scar their friends’ minds. He still thinks it isn’t his fault. They shouldn’t have messed with his stuff.

His snicker is cut short when he remembers Kyungsoo waiting for him in their bedroom. Quickly taking the CD, he goes to the table. A similar bouquet of daisies is taken out of the paper bag and taken into one hand along with Kyungsoo’s. He contemplates bringing the paper bag, a wrapped up set of wooden kitchen utensils, but chooses to give his gift to Kyungsoo later. He grabs the neck of the bottle along with the CD in his other hand before heading to the room. Anticipation churns in his stomach and makes his hands cold. He takes a deep breath before knocking at the door. Kyungsoo’s voice travels through it.

“Do you have everything?”

“Yes. I could tell you where I found them.” Recounting the hiding places would be the only way Kyungsoo could verify if Jongin had really gotten them so he offers to do exactly that.

Once more, Kyungsoo’s voice gets muffled by the wooden door. But Jongin could hear its sternness. “Go ahead.”

“The wine was in the oven. The CD was in The Devotion of Suspect X at page 113. The bouquet was behind our wedding picture. You looked so handsome. I think we should have a renewal of our vows soon so I can see you in that white suit again.” Jongin really couldn’t help making the last comments. He blames it on the picture. The door should just vanish because he knows there are patches of red on his husband’s cheeks right now. And Kyungsoo’s probably rolling eyes at him too.

The door opens to reveal Kyungsoo in a black button-up shirt and equally black pants. The white socks is cute. The rest could kill Jongin with desire because Kyungsoo looks unfairly sexy especially with the gelled up hair. He can’t believe he curses at the things in his hand for preventing him from wrapping his arms around his husband and kissing him feverishly. His smile turns a bit crooked from want. Kyungsoo’s challenging gaze with a dash of a smirk is riling him up in such good ways.

“Well done.” Those dark eyes land on the flower bouquets in Jongin’s hand and widen, eyebrows rising in confusion. Kyungsoo’s smirk turns into a smile as he correctly guesses the origin of the other bouquet. He and Jongin have had overlapping ideas even before they started dating. He takes both bouquets into his own hands. “Come on. Let’s have dinner.”

It’s when Kyungsoo moves away to place the bouquets in a vase at their bedside table that Jongin notices the set up table with scrumptious food on top. His stomach growls in hunger to which Kyungsoo laughs at. His cheeks warm up as he places the bottle of wine inside the bucket of ice at the table. Kyungsoo comes up beside him and plucks out the CD from his hand, placing it inside Kyungsoo’s open laptop at their work desk. Music begins to play through the speakers, filling the room with a slow melody. It’s one of the songs from their wedding. He smiles at Kyungsoo before his lips fall open in surprise. He expected to hear a woman’s voice. Instead, Kyungsoo’s low and velvety singing follows the melody.

Kyungsoo says nothing though, feeling a bit self-conscious. Not because of his singing. Jongin’s heard him sing an uncountable amount of times already. It’s because of his reason for making that CD. He fixes the cuffs of his shirt as he looks Jongin in the eyes, smiling awkwardly. “It’s a gift. For you to listen to while you’re working or maybe taking a rest.”

The grin that spreads wide across Jongin’s face pleases Kyungsoo. And even more, the embrace that he gets enveloped in and reciprocates. Jongin’s nose is touching the shell of his ear, whispered words flowing into his mind. “I love it, Soo. I’ll listen to it every day.”

“If anyone else gets a hold of that, you’re dead.”

“I’ll keep it safe.” Jongin says after a bout of laughter. He leans to Kyungsoo’s ear again. “Just like I keep you safe.”

Kyungsoo snorts a ‘Yeah right’ that has Jongin making indignant comments. It all dissolves into hearty laughter as they make their way to the table, sitting across each other. They open their mouths at the same time.

“Happy anniversary.”

Their smiles are brimming with happiness, both thinking that there is absolutely no other person in the world they would wish to be in front of them at that moment or to be with them until the end. Kyungsoo’s singing is a soft background to their leisurely eating and light conversation. They talk about their day for quite a bit. The usual dreadful work of editing for Jongin and the usual crazy day of vocal teaching for Kyungsoo. The latter mentions how his children’s class is asking about Jongin and pleading with Kyungsoo to make the other come and dance for them again. Jongin laughs.

“You’ve really won them over in just one session with them.”

“What can I say, Soo? I’m really charming.” The comment followed by wiggling eyebrows has Kyungsoo in a fit. Jongin watches wistfully at the thrown back head, scrunched up eyes, and heart-shaped lips. “I might be able to indulge them after I finish looking at the latest draft Mr. Jeon sent me.”

“Jongin you’re not obligated to go. You should rest when you’re finished with that draft.” Kyungsoo has the urge to flick his husband’s forehead. Jongin’s ability to take it easy is close to non-existent.

“I’ll be fine, Soo. Besides, I want to see you at work again. You look so motherly with all those children surrounding you.”

Jongin didn’t get away in time to dodge Kyungsoo smack to his forehead, his teasing smile wiped away instantly. He nurses his forehead and the back of his neck. His head had snapped back at the impact. He really has such a violent husband. But it’s cute. Kyungsoo’s absolutely cute when planning tortures and murders in that mind. Everyone says Jongin’s crazy for thinking such a thing. He doesn’t agree with them. Kyungsoo’s cute. It’s not like those plans ever come to fruition anyway. Except maybe when it involves their friends. That’s just a form of endearment though.

“Stop feminizing me and imagining me pregnant, you pervert.”

“But Kyungsoo,” Jongin whines. “Pregnancy would become you. They really should invent a way for men to get pregnant already. If governments put money into furthering scientific achievement instead of wars, the world would be a better place. It’ll be graced with you and a baby bump.”

The look Kyungsoo gives Jongin is one of pity. His husband is crazy. It must be the killer workload and schedule. They finish eating with Jongin still going on about Kyungsoo with pregnancy glow, Kyungsoo’s surprised face when the baby first kicks, Kyungsoo singing to their baby, and so on. The subject of Jongin’s fantasies simply nods, humoring everything for today. Kyungsoo checks the wine if it’s chilled enough before pouring them generous amounts in their glasses. They share wine kisses as music plays on, whispering ‘I love you’ here and there.

Jongin stands up when a new song begins and Kyungsoo’s voice is singing the line “This is my love song to you”. He holds out his hand for Kyungsoo and the other takes it, leading them to the vacant space of their room. They wrap their hands around each other and begin to sway with the song. It’s the song of their wedding’s first dance. Back then, they moved to a choreographed dance. This time, they just stay in each other’s embrace. Their faces are just centimeters apart, foreheads leaning against each other. Jongin’s outs are Kyungsoo’s ins.

You’re always hoping that we make it
You always wanna keep my gaze
But you’re the only one I see, love
And that’s the one thing that won’t change

“I only see you, Jongin. I only want you.” Kyungsoo whispers, kissing Jongin softly. “I only love you.”

“You’re my world, Kyungsoo. My everything. The reason above everything else. I only love you.” Jongin captures Kyungsoo’s lips in a longer kiss, losing himself in the heady feeling of Kyungsoo.

And with this love song to you
It’s not a momentary phase
You are my life, I don’t deserve you
But you love me just the same

And as the mirror says we’re older
I will not look the other way
You are my life, my love, my only
And that’s the one thing that won’t change

“Happy anniversary.” Jongin breathes out as he watches Kyungsoo’s opening eyes, absolutely mesmerized by the brown irises looking back at him. “My gift’s in the living room.”

“I’ll open it tomorrow. For now,” Kyungsoo presses a kiss against Jongin’s neck, “let’s relive our wedding night.”

You still get my heart racing for you

Jongin lets himself get pulled onto the bed and along Kyungsoo’s motions. He thinks he could never get enough of Kyungsoo. He knows he will always do his best to give Kyungsoo happiness, to see his husband filled with joy and love. Because Kyungsoo deserved it and more. He will always love Kyungsoo. And when they kiss as they make love, Kyungsoo is thinking the same thoughts.

I will never get used to you
