Are you sure about that? If you can subscribe to an entry, you ought to be able to subscribe to a thread. You may have maxed out the number of subscriptions you have - plus accounts are limited to 200. Try deactivating a subscription to an entry that's old and see if that doesn't free up a slot for you to subscribe to a comment thread.

Hrrm. That is not at all indicated in the FAQs. I'm sorry it's not going to work out easily, but, next year, we should have an entirely different comment system, if that helps any.
