[June 20] [Avatar: The Last Airbender] Q&A

Jun 20, 2010 14:26

Title: Q&A
Day/Theme: Day 20: wonder cannot be understood from the inside
Series: Avatar: Last Airbender
Character/Pairing: Aang, Roku
Rating: G

Aang has a tolerance for questions.  Inquiries frustrate him at times, but he gets it.  He has questions too.  He loves answering them, he likes knowing.  He’s the Avatar, after all.  What’s an Avatar that cannot offer solutions?  It’s kind of in the job description.

“You’re looking to hard,” Roku tells him one day as they sift through the Spirit World, fog clinging to their sight.

“I don’t understand,” Aang replies, looking towards the former leader.  “Can’t I find out for myself?”

“It’s not to be understood,” Roku pauses in his step, closing his eyes in what appears tiredness.  “And you cannot search for peace alone.”

“Then what do I do?”

“Nothing,” he tells him, beginning to leave.  “You already have the answers.”

Aang has a tolerance for questions.  People ask him things and he can hand them a key.  And questioning things has always been something Aang was so gifted at.

But Aang hates answers.

Especially ones that lead him nowhere.

Don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I think that most East Asian-influenced shows have a sensei that gives answers that drive the protagonist nuts.
