She caught the thief around the middle, quickly glancing to what she could make of his face to make sure he was still conscious before huffing in annoyance. "You see?" she said with a bit of a growl to her voice as she helped the young man in white stumble toward that hideaway that he was supposed to have been resting in still. "You see? This is why Jii-san told you not to. Stupid thief, just what were you expecting--"
A strained chuckle escaped the wounded man before he shakily broke in, "Didn't want anyone... to think I was dead..."
His voice trailed off just as he nearly tripped over his own feet, making Aoko quickly push him up against the side of the building that formed one wall of the alley. With his back now to the wall, she was able to get some of his weight off of her so that she could look to see how far they'd gotten and how much further they had to go--
A choking sound came from the thief then, making her look back to him in alarm.
Sweat trickled down to his chin as he leaned foward, the hand against his right side pressing harder, clutching at the white cloth there--
Until it began to turn red.
Aoko quickly moved from her spot under his left arm in order to get a better look. When she tried to pull his gloved hand away, however, it seemed to be latched into place, muscles in that right arm tense to the point that she could feel the strain being put on them, shaking beneath her fingertips. "Kid," she said, voice wavering ever so slightly as she continued to pull at that arm, "you have to let me see it--you're bleeding--"
"You'd think--it'd've been healed by now..." Kid whispered quietly, not seeming to hear her words at all and, instead, giving a silent laugh that made his body jerk as the pain registered.
No sounds, however, gave away the amount of pain the elusive thief was feeling at that moment. Only the gasping breaths that he managed to get out echoing in the night.
Aoko continued to watch as the splash of red on the white suit continued to spread past those gloved fingers which only soaked in that vibrant color. Then, knowing there was no other choice for it, she helped the thief lower himself down to the ground before telling him quickly, "I'll go get Jii-san. We'll be too slow getting back if we keep going like this--"
Pristine white covered one of her hands still on the blood-soaked hand before she looked up to not-see his shadowed face. Because of the hat and the dark of night, she could only make out that grin. A half-grin that was still impossibly wide on his face. "You really... don't have to do--all this, Aoko-san..." Kid told her quietly, the grin softening into a smile as his words trailed off.
The daughter of the head of the 1412 Taskforce gave him a bit of a glare. "No, I don't," she agreed heatedly, "but what kind of person would I be if I let some idiotic thief let himself bleed to death just because he had to put on a show?"
Kid gave a bit of a laugh, his smile disappearing for an instance in a wince. "I suppose... you're right," he said as lightly as possible before he let her hand go. "Go quick--I dunno how long..."
The way his hand had pulled away from hers spelled out his point for him, and Aoko quickly gave him one last look-over before nodding to herself. She quickly stood and began to take off, running as fast as she could for that hide-away where an old man was sitting with a medical kit at the ready. When he'd first gotten it out, Aoko had thought that perhaps he was going a bit overboard.
Now she only wished that she'd listened to that old man.
