They met at the top. They had both left piles of bodies and rivers of blood behind them to get there.
Stepping stones, Alucard had said, to the End.
The price that had to be paid, Anderson had fumed, to rid the world of a Monster.
Under all the blood, it was hard to tell them apart. Both stood their ground with wild eyes and bared teeth. Both had blessed weapons gleaming in each hand. Both had the robes of their respective orders stained red and fluttering in tatters around their bodies.
Everything done was for this. The End had come.
