Sometimes he talks in his sleep, and I hate to listen but I always do.
"The Cardinals take it in the bottom of the ninth," he murmurs, predicting the score of a baseball game in another country that won't be aired for weeks. His words are sometimes garbled, and sometimes much too clear.
"Kaho misses me," he says, and I feel a stab of pain. To cover it I wrap my arms around him and tuck my head into his chest, trying not to listen.
Figures that Clow's reincarnation would predict in his dreams.
He tunes in on Kaho a lot; something to do with their long association and magic focusing on other magic-users. It's been years since they broke up and our inevitability came to pass, years since he took my hand again and kissed it and it felt right. Still, I worry about Kaho. She still feels something for him.
If Syaoran still feels anything for me he has buried it under the domestic bliss of raising three Chinese toddlers, two with their mother's garnet eyes. It hadn't been easy for either of us, but his clan was clear. He could not marry the girl who usurped their position as the holder of the Clow cards. He couldn't marry a foreign girl when he had to lead the clan one day.
I couldn't make myself go to his wedding. Eriol came to town and he let me cry. Then he had kissed my hand.
Here I am in his bed, listening to his sleepy murmurs about a woman who lost him long ago, and how she misses him. I hate it when he talks in his sleep.
"Sakura will never leave me," he says, and he smiles a little bit before lapsing back into a snore. I wonder if that is a prediction or his desire. I don't want to know. The power to see the future is one that I will never willingly unlock.
So instead of waking him up and asking the question, I snuggle closer to my husband and drift into my own dreams.
